El 2 de octubre de 1968, en la Plaza de las Tres Culturas en Tlatelolco, Ciudad de M\u00e9xico, ocurri\u00f3 una devastadora masacre en la que m\u00e1s de 300 personas fueron asesinadas.<\/strong> Este tr\u00e1gico evento marc\u00f3 la culminaci\u00f3n de una serie de abusos de poder por parte del Gobierno mexicano contra el movimiento estudiantil.<\/p>\n

Ese a\u00f1o estuvo marcado por detenciones masivas y arbitrarias, as\u00ed como por la preparaci\u00f3n y entrenamiento intensivo de las fuerzas represivas. Los sobrevivientes de la masacre exigen que los responsables sean juzgados por genocidio.<\/p>\n

La masacre fue perpetrada por el Ej\u00e9rcito Mexicano y el grupo paramilitar conocido como Batall\u00f3n Olimpia, quienes atacaron una manifestaci\u00f3n pac\u00edfica. El presidente Gustavo D\u00edaz Ordaz inicialmente neg\u00f3 la presencia del Batall\u00f3n<\/strong>, alegando que su funci\u00f3n era proteger las instalaciones ol\u00edmpicas. Sin embargo, investigaciones posteriores confirmaron que estaban all\u00ed para llevar a cabo una operaci\u00f3n en contra del Consejo Nacional de Huelga (CNH), creado por estudiantes de diversas universidades para organizar la protesta.<\/p>\n

El movimiento estudiantil no solo abarc\u00f3 a estudiantes, sino que tambi\u00e9n involucr\u00f3 a profesores, obreros, amas de casa y sindicatos. La masacre opac\u00f3 la promoci\u00f3n internacional del pa\u00eds como anfitri\u00f3n de los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos, convirti\u00e9ndose en un recordatorio sombr\u00edo de la represi\u00f3n estatal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El d\u00eda de la masacre, miles de personas se reunieron en la plaza. Justo antes de las 6 de la tarde, un helic\u00f3ptero lanz\u00f3 bengalas, lo que marc\u00f3 el inicio del ataque.<\/strong> Mientras los estudiantes presentaban sus demandas \u2014que inclu\u00edan la libertad de presos pol\u00edticos y la derogaci\u00f3n de ciertos art\u00edculos del c\u00f3digo penal\u2014 el ej\u00e9rcito abri\u00f3 fuego indiscriminadamente.<\/p>\n

Los informes oficiales minimizaban las cifras, mencionando solo 30 muertos, pero con el tiempo se han conocido estimaciones m\u00e1s realistas, que indican alrededor de 350 muertos y miles de detenidos, muchos de los cuales sufrieron torturas.<\/strong> La Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de los Derechos Humanos (CNDH) y otros organismos han exigido justicia y reconocimiento de las violaciones a los derechos humanos cometidas ese d\u00eda.<\/p>\n
